My work is a physical response to the connection I feel with the textures, shapes, and movements in nature.

I work in response to my surroundings. It is a sensual flow of energy transferred from hand to clay. I feel my works are an expression of the life force.

My first sculpture was a duck with bubbly grey glaze. I made it when I was six years old; this figure now sits on the windowsill in the kitchen at my father’s house, and celebrates my lifelong attachment to clay and the tactile process that accompanies working with the earth.

Although I make vessels, function is not what intrigues me. My work reflects the unique human imprint of a creative idea with an ongoing connection to the natural world. Each piece holds a bit of memory, spirit and inspiration of the maker.
